FOR SALE!!!
I hand screen a few t-shirts to celebrate the re - launch of my site casualthinking.com so I am selling them here while I set up the store in the site. The package includes a t- shirt and a random B&W 5 x 7 silver gelatin print, hand printed in the lab. For $30.00 + $5 for shipping. The prints are all signed and dated 2006 and the t- shirts are 100% cotton with a discharge screen print on the front.
my cheap scanner
So I sold a print from the website, and I had to find the negative to get it printed. So I dove into boxes full of contact sheets and what not, and stumble with a few forgotten pictures. One set of negatives did not have a contact sheet so I decided to scan some images to see how they look.
The scanner is crappy but the image was of my liking.
I am calling this one "Shadow of Love" or better yet "Shadow of love-making"
Shot on T-MAX 400 on a Canon AE1 a few years back.

Antonio Turok
My wife just told me that her sister was having dinner with the great mexican photographer Antonio Turok, I did not know much about his work so after a google search here I am posting about him and how incredible his work is.
About him : "Born in Mexico City in 1955, Antonio Turok is an internationally known documentary photographer who has worked in Central America, Mexico, and the United States for the last thirty-five years covering the human condition of the people of Mexico."

Chris Jordan - Running the Numbers (An American Self-Portrait)
Running the Numbers looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics. Each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. My hope is that images representing these quantities might have a different effect than the raw numbers alone, such as we find daily in articles and books. Statistics can feel abstract and anesthetizing, making it difficult to connect with and make meaning of 3.6 million SUV sales in one year, for example, or 2.3 million Americans in prison, or 32,000 breast augmentation surgeries in the U.S. every month.
This project visually examines these vast and bizarre measures of our society, in large intricately detailed prints assembled from thousands of smaller photographs. Employing themes such as the near versus the far, and the one versus the many, I hope to raise some questions about the roles and responsibilities we each play as individuals in a society that is increasingly enormous, incomprehensible, and overwhelming.
